Lusaka Dynamos Ladies Football Club speedy winger Siomala ‘Skamale’ Mapepa was the overall top goalscorer from both Zone A and B after scoring a remarkable 17 goals for the Elite Ladies in the just ended 2021/22 FAZ Women’s National League Season.
Skamale was instrumental throughout the season for the Coach Grace Mwango drilled lasses which saw her scoring very important goals for the The Elite Ladies including a historical double hauls (4 goals) against Chipata Girls both home and away which was the second haul of the season after Red Arrows midfielder Mary Wilombe did the same against Green Eagles Women Football Club.
Green Buffaloes striker Theresa Chewe and former Red Arrows prolific goalpoacher Grace Chanda scored the first historical hauls in the Inaugural National League last season against National Assembly and Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club respectively.
The Elite Ladies came out fourth during the transitional season with 27 points, 9 behind eventual Zone winners YASA Queens and Mapepa’s amazing performance for the Elite saw her earning back-to-back national team call-ups both with the Zambia Under-20 and Senior Women’s National Team and in the process scoring 6 goals overall.
In addition to that, she also played a pivotal role for the Copper Queens during the 2022 Morocco Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers in the final match against Namibia in which she scored the decisive goal that secured qualification for the Copper Queens to AWCON to be played from 2-23 July, 2022.
Mapepa, a former Chibolya and Nkwazi Queens’ winger with a deadly left foot and she is currently in camp with the Copper Queens preparing for the upcoming 12th Edition of the AWCON.
The Copper Queens have been placed in Group B alongside seasonal campaigners who have qualified to all editions of the tournament Cameroon, North African side Tunisia who are making a return to continental showpiece after a 14-year absence and debutants Togo.
